Dear Tash T
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you are having problems signing in to Hotmail using Chrome on your iPad or Mac tablet. I am happy to assist you.
To resolve this issue, please follow these valid and streamlined steps:
1. Confirm Chrome Compatibility
Outlook.com requires the latest version of Chrome. On iPad, update Chrome via the App Store. On Mac, update via Chrome > Settings > About Chrome. Using an outdated version will trigger the “not supported” message.
2. Clear Microsoft Account Sessions
Please log out all Microsoft account sessions in Chrome. This forces all sessions to sign out and clears cached login tokens. After signing out, return to Outlook and select Use another account to enter your Hotmail credentials.
3. Remove School Accounts from Microsoft Sign-in Page
On the Microsoft sign-in page, when school accounts appear, click Forget this account under each unwanted account. This removes them from the account picker so they no longer appear as default options.
4. Reset Chrome Site Data for Outlook.com
In Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings. Search for outlook.com and live.com, then clear permissions and stored data. Restart Chrome and attempt sign-in again.
5. Use Incognito Mode as a Workaround
Open a new Incognito Tab in Chrome and navigate to Outlook. Sign in with your Hotmail credentials. This bypasses cached autofill data and ensures a clean login session.
6. Alternative Access via Microsoft Edge
If Chrome continues to block Hotmail, download Microsoft Edge from the App Store. Edge is fully supported for Outlook.com and ensures seamless Hotmail login.
