i loaded a 12 year old version of Money Plus Deluxe on a new PC, have been using it but it's insisting I activate with my key, which I have, but then error-responds that it can't connect to the internet to verify and activate. I guess those old activation webpages no longer exist. it's saying activate in 4 days or you can't enter any more transactions. How can I get around this?

Microsoft stopped online activation for Money Plus Deluxe, so the internet activation will fail and you will lose access after the countdown.
You can try to install Microsoft Money Plus Sunset Deluxe instead. It does not need activation, and it opens your existing Money files.
