I was recently locked out of my Hotmail account which I have had for 30 years and none of the online self-help forms or other options are working to recover it and there is no phone number to call to talk to anyone to get help it, which is really not a good thing for Microsoft to be doing. How can I contact someone at Microsoft to help recover this email since it is important for me to have access to it since there are archived emails I must have. This is my, <Mod remove PII> @hotmail.com account which is being blocked.

    Hi Mike Bradley, I can imagine how stressful it must feel to lose access to an account you’ve had for 30 years especially with important archived emails tied to it thats a big deal

    Start by going to Microsoft Support choose Can’t sign in and select Outlook.com to get help this will guide you to live chat or even a callback option. If that doesn’t work, fill out the account recovery form at account.live.com/acsr with as much detail as possible and keep refining it if needed. Live chat or a callback is usually faster than forms and if you’re still stuck ask for escalation through support or the Microsoft Q&A community.

    When you try to sign in do you get an error message like account doesn’t exist or password incorrect or “account locked?

    Best regards

    What does the Account Sign-In Helper say about the status of your account? Is it really locked or just temporarily suspended/blocked because of too many failed logins?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/i-can-t-sign-in-to-my-microsoft-account-475c9b5c-8c25-49f1-9c2d-c64b7072e735

    If your account is really locked. Microsoft Account Security is an automated process. There is no direct phone number for account recovery. Microsoft Support Agents can not unlock an account or reset your password. All routes lead back to the automated process or chat support to help you complete the automated process.

    You must have a working Microsoft email address to use Chat. If you can not logon with your current account, create a new, temporary one at https://signup.live.com

    Chat Support

    Open a browser to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact

    Tell us your problem -> "Account Locked"

    [Get Help], {Scroll down to the bottom of the page}, [Sign in to contact Support]

    Sign in with any Microsoft account.

    Products and services -> "Other Products" -> "Manage Account Security", [Confirm]

    Choose a support option -> "Chat with a support agent in your web browser"

    {But they will almost always tell you to use the Account Recovery Form}
