I would like to know if my certificate of renewal has been activated for all my devices. One of them could not print bc of the renewal not being activated. I activated it on a different device, but the first one is still stuck. How do I fix this?

To check if your certificate of renewal has been activated for all your devices, you may need to verify the status of the certificate on each device individually. If one device is unable to print due to the renewal not being activated, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Certificate Status: On the problematic device, check the certificate status to ensure it is properly installed and activated. You can do this through the certificate management console or settings.
    2. Reinstall the Certificate: If the certificate is not activated, you might need to reinstall it. Ensure that you follow the correct procedure for your specific operating system.
    3. Device Connectivity: Ensure that the device is connected to the network and can communicate with the certificate authority if necessary.
    4. Restart the Device: Sometimes, a simple restart can help in recognizing the newly activated certificate.
    5. Check for Errors: Look for any error messages that may indicate what is preventing the device from recognizing the certificate. This can often be found in the event logs or certificate management logs.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consult your IT department or the support resources for your specific software or hardware setup.

    Hello Margaret Fulton,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

I understand that you are trying to check if your certificate of renewal has been activated for all your devices. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.

To Confirm your subscription is active under your Microsoft account Go to Account › Services and verify the Microsoft 365 plan shows Active. If you see “Expired/Disabled,” renew from there.

Please note about device limits Microsoft 365 lets you sign in to Office apps on up to 5 devices at the same time. If you’re signed in on more than five, one device can drop to unlicensed—sign out on a device you no longer use.

If Your Microsoft 365 renewal is active on one device, but the Mac that can’t print still has a stale/incorrect activation and it might run in Unlicensed/Reduced Functionality mode.

    1. Sign out of Office on the stuck Mac: Open Word > Preferences > Account > Sign out. Quit all Office apps.
    2. Clear activation cache:
      • Open Keychain Access > delete Microsoft Office Identities Cache, Microsoft Office Identities Settings, and any ADAL/MSOID entries.
      • Delete ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/com.microsoft.Office365.plist (forces fresh license pull).
    3. Update Office: In any Office app, Help > Check for Updates, install all updates.
    4. Re‑activate with the same account used for renewal: Open Word, sign in with that Microsoft account. Confirm Subscription Product – Activated under Account.
    5. Respect device limit: If you’re signed into Office on >5 devices, sign out on one other device and retry activation on the Mac.
    6. Fix printing (if still blocked): System Settings > Printers & Scanners > remove/re‑add the printer; then test printing from Word/Excel.

One check: On both Macs, is Word > Account showing the same Microsoft account email? If not, switch the stuck Mac to the renewal account and repeat Step 4.

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.

    Best Regards,
