    Hello lelieee,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. My name is Raymond and I'm happy to help.

Whether to use OneDrive or not is dependent on your needs. I have attached a few articles that will better help you understand OneDrive features and if you need it.

See article '15 reasons to love OneDrive' by Ankita Kirti from Microsoft Tech Community: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-onedrive-blog/15-reasons-to-love-onedrive/ba-p/3592495

Also, see 'benefits of OneDrive' from Microsoft: https://adoption.microsoft.com/files/onedrive/Benefits-of-OneDrive.pdf

    1. Yes, it's best to use OneDrive.
    2. Pros:

    • Your files are available on all your devices

    • Easy to share files with others

    • Your files are backed up

    Cons:

    • Some files may not sync properly (can be corrected)

    • Problems with file duplication (if you don't set up OneDrive correctly)

    • You cannot selectively sync files in the Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos folders. You must sync all files or no files.

    1. Yes, files sync to all your devices. To stop the sync, go to Manage Backup.

I have Microsoft 365, which offers so much more than OneDrive alone. So I would advise you to go with that.

You are going to have issues if you don't purchase a OneDrive plan: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/compare-onedrive-plans

I would not recommend free OneDrive, which only provides 5GB of storage. Your OneDrive will easily fill up.
