Hello,

I am completely locked out of my Microsoft 365 Business account and need help resetting MFA after losing access to my Microsoft Authenticator app.

I am the owner (and likely the only Global Admin) of a Microsoft 365 tenant for my business domain. The account is configured for Microsoft Authenticator push/number matching only, and I do not have any backup MFA methods available (no SMS, no alternate email, no recovery codes).

What happened: I recently changed phones and no longer have access to the old device where Authenticator was registered. Since then, I cannot complete MFA on any device.

Current situation:

• I cannot sign in on the web or new devices because MFA verification always fails.

• Authenticator on my new phone cannot verify the account and does not show a valid code.

• I receive the message: “Sorry, we’re having trouble verifying your account.”

• I still have access to my mailbox through the Outlook desktop app, but I cannot access the Microsoft 365 portal or admin center.

• Because I can’t sign in, I’m unable to open a support ticket through normal channels.

What I’ve tried:

• Signing in from multiple devices and browsers

• The MFA setup and security info pages

• Password reset flow

• Calling Microsoft support numbers (unable to reach an agent without signing in)

Request: I need escalation to the Microsoft Account Recovery / Data Protection team to: • Reset or remove the existing MFA/Authenticator registration for my account • Allow me to re-register Microsoft Authenticator on my new phone

I can privately provide any required verification (domain ownership, billing proof, tenant details, etc.) to Microsoft staff if needed.

This account is critical for my business, and any assistance or escalation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
