Custom domains possible for Azure Files?

In Azure Storage, custom domains are permitted for blobs. Any chance this will be extended to AAD-integrated file shares?

\myshare.contoso.com\share1 or even \myshare\share1 would be preferred to \myshare.files.core.windows.net\share1

CNAMEs alone do not work in this case, as authentication seems to fail when talking over SMB3.

    Hi @Sumarigo-MSFT ,

if DFS-N is not an option there is no other way to use something like \\myshare.contoso.com\share1 instead of \\myshare.file.core.windows.net\share1 if AD integrated authentication is used?
Is there anything on the roadmap you could share?

    Kind regards

@ToddMancini-3367 Adding more information to the above suggestion: No committed plans for custom domains support for now. Storage account must use full qualified domain name e.g. (accountname.file.core.windows.net).

To access share with a different name, like \\myfileserver\myshare, customer can use DFS-N. This is typically required to preserve existing file server naming convention as customers migrate data from on-premises files shares to Azure Files.

    Hope this helps!
