Hi! To better help with this transition, could you share what you’re trying to achieve after the change (for example: “use a Microsoft 365 Family subscription on this PC,” “keep my work mailbox,” or “move my files to a personal account”)? Microsoft personal accounts and work/school accounts are different account types and can’t be merged/combined, even if they look similar at sign-in.
In addition, Microsoft 365 Family is managed through a personal Microsoft account, and each person you share with may be prompted to create/use a Microsoft account to receive the benefits.
If your goal is to use Microsoft 365 Family, the usual path is to sign into Office with a personal Microsoft account for licensing, and then manually move/backup what you need from the work/school account (files, emails, etc.). For files, Microsoft’s recommended approach is to copy them from your work/school OneDrive to your personal OneDrive using File Explorer/Finder (especially if both accounts are added to OneDrive on the same device).
If your goal is to “keep the same email address,” note that you generally can’t convert an organization-managed work/school sign-in into a personal Microsoft account, and the two account types remain separate even if the email text looks the same.
