I attempted to add storage to one account but it added to the account that I already have plenty of storage. How do I remove what was just added and put it on the account that needs to storage?

To remove the extra storage that was added to the wrong account and allocate it to the account that needs it, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Identify the Billing Account Type: Determine whether you have an MCA or MOSA billing account type, as the steps to manage storage differ based on this.
    2. Access the Admin Center: Go to the admin center.
      • If you’re using the Simplified view, select Billing.
      • If you’re using the Dashboard view, go to Billing > Your products.
    3. Manage Office 365 Extra File Storage:
      • For MCA billing account type:
        • Select Office 365 Extra File Storage.
        • Choose Remove licenses to decrease the storage allocated to the account with excess storage.
      • For MOSA billing account type:
        • Select the subscription that contains the Office 365 Extra File Storage add-on.
        • In the Add-ons section, select Manage add-ons and then choose Office 365 Extra File Storage.
    4. Adjust Storage: After removing the excess storage, you can then add it to the correct account by following the process to buy licenses again for the account that needs additional storage.

If you need further assistance or if the steps do not resolve the issue, consider contacting support for additional help.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to move storage between accounts (if that's you're looking for) only refund and repurchase.

OneDrive storage is locked to the Microsoft account used during purchase and cannot be transferred to another account.

    What you should do:

    • Sign in to the account where the storage was added > go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • If the purchase was recent (usually within 30 days), request a refund.
    • After the refund, sign in to the correct account (the one that needs storage) and purchase the storage again.
    • Make sure only the correct account is signed in before buying.

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
