I moved and cancelled my business email account which delayed me being able to sign on. I had previously cancelled my office 365 account but it auto billed in October. I was able to reestablish my old email and finally sign on to my account and cancel the subscription again. I would like the payment for 2026 refunded.

To request a refund for your Office 365 account, you typically need to follow these steps:

    1. Determine Your Eligibility: Refund policies can vary based on how long ago the subscription was canceled and the type of billing account you have. If you canceled within 30 days of purchase, you may be eligible for a full refund.
    2. Contact Support: Since you mentioned that you canceled your subscription again after reestablishing your email, you should contact Microsoft support directly to explain your situation and request a refund for the payment that was processed in October.
    3. Provide Necessary Information: Be prepared to provide details such as your account information, the date of the cancellation, and any relevant transaction details to facilitate the refund process.

Keep in mind that refunds may be prorated based on the time remaining in your billing cycle, and certain conditions may apply depending on your account type.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Microsoft Q&A is public, and we can only provide information. It is beyond our capability to assist directly with refund-related concerns.

You’ll need to contact Microsoft 365 Business Support directly, as only they can review billing and refund requests for business accounts:

    • Sign in to Microsoft 365 admin center https://admin.microsoft.com with your Microsoft 365 admin account,
    • Select Support > Help and support, enter your question and select Contact support.

If you no longer have access to your 365 Business account, you can create a temporary trial Microsoft 365 Business account and use it to reach Microsoft Support directly through the admin center, that often helps you connect with the right support team faster:

After successfully get in touch with billing support, explain that the subscription auto-renewed while you were unable to access the account and that you canceled it as soon as access was restored. They’ll review whether a refund for the 2026 billing period is possible.

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
