Trying to purchase Microsoft 365 off your website and the website will not allow me to purchase

Had an old copy of Microsoft 365 personal subscription purchased from Dell that expires on 2/3/2026. I have removed the auto renewal on the dell My Account site and cancelled the subscription.

It was complaining that I had to contact Dell to resolve the issue.

The Dell site still lists the Microsoft 365 personal subscription as inactive. Do I just have to wait for the data to get synced from Dell to Microsoft?

    Hello David,

I appreciate you reaching out and I understand how frustrating it can be when you’re ready to purchase Microsoft 365 Family but the website will not let you complete the transaction. It makes sense that this is confusing especially after canceling your old Microsoft 365 Personal subscription through Dell.

This issue usually happens when a subscription purchased through a third‑party seller like Dell still shows as active or recently canceled on their system. Microsoft’s billing system relies on Dell to update the subscription status so if Dell’s records have not finished syncing yet, Microsoft may continue to block new purchases to avoid overlapping subscriptions.

The best resolution is to allow a little time for Dell’s cancellation data to fully sync to your Microsoft account. This process can take up to twenty‑four hours and once the sync completes you should be able to purchase Microsoft 365 Family directly from the Microsoft website without any further steps. If you need the subscription sooner or if the sync does not update after that timeframe you can also contact Dell support so they can manually confirm the cancellation status on their side.

To help you further may I ask if you are seeing any specific error message on the Microsoft purchase page or has the status in your Microsoft account already changed?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo
