There is nothing wrong with your PC or Excel installation, this is is a widely reported problem with the servers, many Excel users have been reporting this problem for a couple of days, however, the Microsoft Service Status website does not indicate that Microsoft is aware of it.

This forum is just a user to user forum, the best solution is to select the Help menu at the top of Excel, then choose 'Send feedback' and report this problem to the Office developers.

If your stock data in Excel is not refreshing, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some common issues and solutions:

    1. Internet Connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection, as stock data requires access to online sources.
    2. Data Source Settings: Check if the data source settings are configured correctly. You may need to re-establish the connection to the stock data provider.
    3. Excel Settings: Make sure that Excel is set to refresh data automatically. You can check this by going to the Data tab and looking at the refresh settings for your data connections.
    4. Excel Version: Ensure that you are using a version of Excel that supports stock data features. Some features may not be available in older versions.
    5. Add-ins: If you are using any add-ins for stock data, ensure they are enabled and functioning correctly.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider checking for updates to Excel or reinstalling the application to fix any potential bugs.

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how frustrating it is when your stock data in Excel stops refreshing, and I’m glad you reached out for help.

Often this issue stems from Excel not being able to retrieve data from the online source due to connectivity issues, service outages, or file settings

The first thing to check is your internet connection, ensuring it’s stable and not blocking Excel from reaching Microsoft’s data servers. If connectivity is fine, confirm that your stock values are correctly formatted using Excel’s Stock data type—when a cell has that format, Excel treats it as a linked data type that should auto-refresh.

Next, review your refresh settings: right-click a stock data cell, choose Data Type → Refresh Settings, and ensure that the option is set to Automatically every 5 minutes or On file open, rather than “Manually”. If it's set to manual, you’ll need to refresh manually each time.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel
