To cancel your Microsoft business account, you need to follow these steps:
- Delete Users: Start by deleting all users except for your Global Administrator account. The Global Administrator must complete the steps to close the account.
- If users are synchronized from on-premises, turn off sync and delete the users in the cloud directory.
- Cancel Active Subscriptions: You can cancel your subscriptions in the Microsoft 365 admin center. If you have a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) billing account type, you may need to turn off recurring billing and wait for the subscription to expire at the end of its term.
- Delete Disabled Subscriptions: After canceling your subscriptions, delete all disabled subscriptions in the Microsoft 365 admin center. The steps may vary depending on your billing account type.
- Disable Multi-Factor Authentication: Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center and disable multi-factor authentication for all accounts except for the Global Administrator account.
- Delete the Tenant: Finally, follow the steps to delete your tenant in Microsoft Entra ID. After completing this step, your account with Microsoft will be closed and deleted.
Make sure to back up any data you want to preserve before starting this process, as all information related to your account will be deleted.
