If you are experiencing sound issues on Windows 11 where sound works during tests but not in applications, it could be related to driver compatibility issues, particularly with the Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) drivers. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Audio Settings: Ensure that the correct playback device is selected in your audio settings. Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar, select "Sounds," and check the playback devices.
    2. Update Audio Drivers: Make sure your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to Windows Update and checking for updates, or you can manually update the drivers through Device Manager.
    3. Install Compatible Drivers: If you have an Intel 11th Gen Core processor, ensure that you have the latest version of the Intel SST drivers. The compatible versions are 10.30.00.5714 and later, or 10.29.00.5714 and later. If you are using an affected version (10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152), you may need to update to avoid compatibility issues.
    4. Check for Safeguard Holds: If your device has a safeguard hold due to driver issues, it may prevent you from upgrading or using certain features. You can check for any safeguard holds in Windows Update settings.
    5. Contact Manufacturer: If the issue persists, consider contacting your device manufacturer for further assistance, especially if the drivers for your specific hardware configuration are not available.

Following these steps should help resolve the sound issue you are experiencing with applications on your Windows 11 system.

Press Windows key + R and type mmsys.cpl

See if any sound device appears and which one is set as default.

Also click on the start menu and type msinfo32 > Open System Information

Take a screenshot and upload it here, this will help find the audio driver for your system model
