Hi,

We are currently using Office 365 and SharePoint Online.

We would like to implement a SharePoint intranet for our staff. We have about 50 employees with Microsoft licenses, while the rest do not.

Is it possible to give those without a license visitor access to the SharePoint site (intranet)?

I’ve read that if you add them as users in Azure Active Directory (AAD), they can have read-only access to the site without incurring additional costs for the business.

What is the best way to provide access so they can view and download basic policies, etc., without having to purchase licenses for everyone?

Yes, it is possible to provide access to your SharePoint intranet for non-desk workers without purchasing additional licenses. You can add them as guest users in Azure Active Directory (AAD), which allows them to have read-only access to the SharePoint site. This way, they can view and download basic policies and other documents without incurring additional costs for licenses.

To implement this, you would need to:

    1. Add the non-licensed users as guest users in your Azure Active Directory.
    2. Assign them appropriate permissions on the SharePoint site to ensure they can access the necessary content.

This approach allows you to maintain control over your internal content while providing essential access to those who need it.
