How do I turn off windows automatic restart without my express permission?

I just had windows shutdown for no apparent reason and restart. Why does it do this? I did not get any BSOD or any problems - it just decided to restart itself, and now I can't figure out which versions of some files that were recovered are the ones that I want. And the "recovery" pane is worse than useless because it provides no option to see comparisons of the various versions, so that I can choose the right one.

I just want to control reboots so that they do not occur without EXPRESS PERMISSION, unless there is some real emergency. Why can't I be informed about these reboots before they occur?

Windows seems to have completely transformed itself from an operating system for "Personal Computers", into nothing more than a smart terminal for a large mainframe, called "The Cloud" You have finally become IBM, incarnate. And also what, exactly is a "child tag"? At first I thought it related to child safety features, but then it seems that is just a sub tag. The jargon on this web site has become overwhelming.

You can implement it by using the approach described in

    https://superuser.com/questions/1817039/disable-automatic-restarts-windows-11

You can disable automatic restart after installing updates in the Group Policy Editor.

    1. Open the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
    2. Go to Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage end user experience.
    3. Double-click on “No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations”.
    4. Select Enabled, and then select OK.
