My client sent a Microsoft invitation to my Outlook email. However, when I clicked “Accept Invitation,” no sign-in approval request appeared on my Authenticator app on my phone

If you're not receiving a sign-in approval request on your Microsoft Authenticator app after accepting an invitation, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can consider:

    1. Check Notifications: Ensure that notifications are enabled for the Authenticator app on your phone. Sometimes, notifications may be blocked or turned off, preventing you from receiving approval requests.
    2. App Status: Verify that the Microsoft Authenticator app is functioning properly. You may want to check if there are any updates available for the app or if it requires reinstallation.
    3. Network Connection: Ensure that your device has a stable internet connection. A poor connection may prevent the app from receiving requests.
    4. Re-link the Account: If the issue persists, consider removing and re-adding your account in the Authenticator app. This can sometimes resolve issues with receiving notifications.
    5. Check Admin Settings: If you are part of an organization, it's possible that the admin has set specific policies that might affect how invitations and sign-ins are handled. You may want to check with your IT department.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

    Dear @Nur Basyirahanim Bt Bakri,

Good day. Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

According to your inquiry, please allow me to clarify the following information:

MFA only triggers when you open a protected app/resource Accepting the invite alone may not trigger MFA. You’ll see the Authenticator prompt when you launch Teams, SharePoint, Azure, or whatever they shared.

To assist you better, please take a screenshot of the invitation email and send it to me. Additionally, kindly provide the following information:

    • Are you using a work/school account or a personal account?
    • Have you previously received any requests after accepting an invitation, or is this the first time you have been invited?

Note: Please note that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. I am looking forward to your response!
