    Hi Tony,

Thanks for reaching out about Outlook not saving a new contact and showing the error message couldn’t save contact as reported in recent discussions on learn.microsoft.com. I can see this issue is currently affecting multiple users using the New Outlook for Windows so you are not alone and I understand how disruptive this can be when you rely on Outlook to manage your contacts as noted across similar threads on learn.microsoft.com.

I understand how important it is to keep your contacts up to date and how frustrating it can be when the error provides no additional details especially when you are trying to get work done.

This behavior appears to be related to the New Outlook for Windows and is often caused by a temporary application or synchronization issue. A practical workaround is to create the contact in Outlook on the web first and allow it to sync back to the desktop app. You can sign in to Outlook on the web open People create the new contact and save it then check if it appears in the New Outlook client afterward.

If saving the contact works on the web but continues to fail in the desktop app repairing or resetting the New Outlook app can usually help by clearing its local cache. This can be done from Windows Settings by opening Apps locating Outlook going to Advanced options and selecting Repair or Reset then signing back in.

If you need an immediate solution on the desktop you can temporarily switch back to Classic Outlook add the contact there and continue working while Microsoft addresses the New Outlook behavior. You can switch between New and Classic Outlook using the toggle in the top right corner and return later once the issue is resolved as outlined in Microsoft support articles.

Can you confirm whether you are using the New Outlook for Windows and whether the same contact saves successfully when you try creating it in Outlook on the web.

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo
