I have a file server and all files are stored under G drive. Recently I found out 2 sub folders can't be opened with error "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".

I've search through the internet and seems like the resolution is to perform chkdsk G: /F or running disk check from file explorer. However, I have tons of files in this drive and it is a production file server. To avoid any other data loss or downtime to my users, is there anyway that I can do to just remove the 2 sub folders without impacting the server functionality?

    Hi there,

The best way to resolve this would be a check disk command, you can try the other troubleshoot like moving the inaccessible files to any other location. Right-click the folder or files that you can't access and copy or cut them. Now, go to any other drive and paste your data.

The next step would be to error-check it. In the Drive properties Under the Tools tab, you can view a feature for "Error Checking". Simply click on the "Check" button here.
