Hello, I bought a laptop in June 2025 and asked another person for help setting it up. He is a friend of a family member, and helps set up computers for a company (as far as I know) so we asked him for help. He downloaded the necessary programs and activated windows with a license he had. Around november, when I turned on the laptop it said that windows wasn't activated. Is it because I forgot to download an update or because of something else? How can I activate it again?

If your laptop is showing that Windows isn't activated, it could be due to several reasons. One common reason is that the license used for activation may have been invalid or is no longer valid. This can happen if the license was used on multiple devices or if it was not a legitimate copy. Additionally, if the laptop was not connected to the internet for a period of time, it might not have been able to renew the activation automatically.

To activate Windows again, you can follow these steps:

    1. Connect to the Internet: Ensure your laptop is connected to the internet.
    2. Activate Windows: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation. Here, you can see the activation status and have the option to activate Windows.
    3. Enter a New Product Key: If you have a valid product key, you can enter it here to activate Windows.
    4. Contact Support: If you continue to have issues, you may need to contact Microsoft support for assistance with activation.

It's also a good idea to ensure that your Windows is up to date, as updates can sometimes resolve activation issues.

Can you please type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch command prompt, then run the following command:

    slmgr /dlv

Then share a screenshot please. Thanks!
