One email to 30 recipients getting error message about sending limit

I'm trying to send one email to 30 recipients in a list. I have previously successfully sent emails to these people using this method.

When I click 'send' I immediately get told that there's a daily limit for sending emails and I have reached my limit so my email never leaves the drafts folder. Note this is the ONLY email I have sent today!

I have deleted the list, I have recreated the list, I have entered each email address as an individual 'bcc' and still get the message...

It happens on both laptop and mobile. I have changed the password.

Anybody had similar?

It seems that you are encountering a sending limit issue when trying to send an email to 30 recipients. In Microsoft 365, there are specific limits on the number of recipients you can send emails to at one time, which can vary based on your account type and settings. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check Recipient Limits: Ensure that you are not exceeding the maximum recipient limit for a single email. For Microsoft 365, the limit is typically 500 recipients per message, but it’s advisable to send to fewer recipients to avoid hitting limits.
    2. Use Distribution Lists: Instead of sending to individual addresses, consider using a distribution list or a Microsoft 365 group. This can help manage your recipients more effectively and may help you avoid hitting limits.
    3. Batch Sending: If you are sending to a large number of recipients, consider batching your emails. Send to a smaller group of recipients at a time, ensuring you stay within the limits.
    4. Check for Previous Emails: Even if you believe you haven't sent any emails today, check your sent items to confirm that no other emails have been sent that might contribute to the limit.
    5. Contact Support: If the issue persists, it may be helpful to contact Microsoft support for assistance, as they can provide specific insights into your account limits and any potential issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the sending limit issue effectively.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

This can happen if the system detects unusual activity, or if your account hasn’t been fully verified.

Can I ask if you’re using Outlook with a personal Microsoft account or through a work/school account?

For personal accounts, the best place to start is making sure your account is fully verified, check that your security info (like your phone number or alternate email) is up to date at https://account.microsoft.com Once that’s done, the limits often lift within 24 hours.

If it’s a work or school account, you may need to reach out to your IT admin since they control sending limits for your organization.

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
