Welcome Charles Gove to the Q&A forum.

From your description, you're trying to connect an iPhone 17 to Windows using the "Link to Windows" feature but are running into a requirement for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Here's some information that might be helpful for you:

Step 1: Check BLE availability on your PC

    • Right‑click Start and select Device Manager > Expand Bluetooth
    • Right‑click your Bluetooth adapter (for example, Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth or Qualcomm QCA61x4) > Properties > Open the Advanced tab

You can confirm BLE support in one of these ways:

    • If the LMP version (or Firmware/LMP) is 6 or higher (e.g. 6.xxxx), the PC supports Bluetooth Low Energy
    • Or if you see Bluetooth Low Energy, BLE, or LE listed, the hardware supports it

Reference: Check for Bluetooth Low Energy Support | Logitech Hub (Third‑party link operated by Logitech, not by Microsoft; the information appears safe and accurate)

Step 2: Update the Bluetooth driver (important)

In some cases, BLE is supported by the hardware but not exposed due to an outdated driver. Install the latest Bluetooth driver from your PC manufacturer’s website for better hardware compatibility and BLE support (than generic ones):

    • Identify your PC brand (HP, Lenovo, Dell, ASUS, etc.) and model by Wins+R > msinfo32
    • Visit the official support website for your device model
    • Download and install manually the latest Bluetooth driver listed for your version of Windows
    • Restart your PC after installation

If your PC doesn’t support Bluetooth Low Energy, one option is to use a USB Bluetooth adapter that explicitly supports Bluetooth 4.0 or 5.0 with BLE. These adapters are generally affordable, work well with desktops and older laptops, and are usually plug‑and‑play once the drivers are installed.

Note: Even with a BLE adapter, iPhone support in Link to Windows is still more limited than Android. BLE is required, but not all features you may expect will be available yet.

Hope this helps clarify things, I'm here if you need further assistance!
