Why can't I add a new contact in New Outlook?

I recently moved from a HP computer running Windows 10 to a new HP computer running Windows 11. I downloaded Windows 365 Personal and used the New Outlook app to move my email over. I then exported my contacts from my old email contacts (Microsoft 2016) and imported them in New Outlook. Most of the contacts came over, however the contacts do not look as they did in Microsoft 2016. When I tried to add a new contact it would not add. The message I get is; 'Couldn't save contact.' What gives? I tried creating a new email list and could not; got same message.

The AI generated responses did not address the question specifically enough to solve the problem. I suspect that there is another issue that is causing the problem because this is a new instance of first-time use of Microsoft 365. I exported my contacts from Microsoft 2016 creating a csv file. When I opened the file in Excel, I did not notice any issues. When I imported the csv file into New Outlook I got no error messages or issues. There must be a different issue that I need more technical support with.

I don't use an Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) account. I use Outlook as a client using an IMAP/SMTP aol.com email server.

The new outlook is missing the add contact feature.

The best fix for now is to toggle off the "new contacts features.

Toggle the new contacts features button off.

This is the only reliable way to add contacts to your list until Microsoft patches the system.
