Hi, I recently reset my PC due to suspected malicious malware. When my PC left overnight, I can no longer open it because it’s asking me to sign in to my Microsoft account, I kept on trying to sign in but, it kept saying, “You’ll need the Internet for this. It doesn’t look like you‘re connected to the Internet. Check your connection and try again.” Even though I have a good connection. So then, I reset it again and there I have my Windows open, and Im trying to set the password, but the Password option is gone and there’s only, PIN (Windows Hello) when I clicked the Set Up, im getting the same error again.

Theres an option below, For improved security, only allows Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device. This option is currently ON and grey-out which I can’t turn it off unless I setup the PIN, which I can’t. Help me 😭

    Dear @Dee,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may encounter when using our services/ products. Based on your description, kindly try these following steps:

Create a local account (not tied to Microsoft) to get back in and then add your Microsoft account later:

    Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account > “I don’t have this person’s sign‑in information” > Add a user without a Microsoft account > set a password.

Local accounts are not affected by the “Only allow Windows Hello…” toggle.
