Your speaker is also known as the Sony SRS-XB100. It may simply have lost its Bluetooth connection to your computer. Sony provides lots of advice here:

    Hi Carolyn,
Does the speaker connect via Bluetooth or 3.5mm jack?

    While it is connected,

Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.

    Type mmsys.cpl

    Press Enter.

Take a screenshot of the recording tab and post in the next reply.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

If your Sony external speaker model YY7856E is not recognized after switching to Windows 11, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Connections: Ensure that the speaker is properly connected to your computer. If it is a USB speaker, try connecting it to a different USB port.
    2. Update Drivers: Make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your audio device. You can check for updates via Windows Update by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates.
    3. Device Manager: Open Device Manager and check if the speaker is listed under the audio devices. If it is listed but has a warning icon, you may need to uninstall the device and then reinstall it. Right-click on the device, select Uninstall device, and then restart your computer.
    4. Audio Services: Ensure that the Windows Audio service is running. You can do this by typing services.msc in the Run dialog (Win + R), finding Windows Audio, and ensuring that it is started.
    5. Use Device-Specific Drivers: If the speaker came with a specific driver, install it before connecting the device. This can sometimes resolve recognition issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to contact Sony support for further assistance regarding compatibility with Windows 11.
