A personal PC was accidentally enrolled into my Microsoft Entra ID tenant during Windows setup. The device is now locked and requires an admin account to reset. I am the tenant owner. Intune and Autopilot are not enabled. Please remove this device from the tenant and release the ownership.

To remove a device that has been accidentally enrolled in your Microsoft Entra ID tenant, you will need to deregister the device. Since Intune and Autopilot are not enabled, you can follow these steps:

    1. Delete the device object from Microsoft Entra ID: You can do this through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Sign in to the admin center, navigate to Devices > All devices, select the device you want to remove, and choose the option to delete it.
    2. Ensure the device is not registered elsewhere: If the device was previously registered in any other services, ensure those registrations are also removed to prevent any conflicts.
    3. Release ownership: Once the device is deleted from Microsoft Entra ID, it should no longer be associated with your tenant, effectively releasing ownership.

If you encounter any issues or if the device remains locked, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.

My device does not appear in Entra ID, Intune, or Autopilot, but Windows reset still requires an organization administrator. This is a known Ghost Device / Activation Lock issue. Please escalate this case to the Data Protection or Activation Lock team to force release the device ownership from the backend. I can provide proof of purchase and serial number.
