Minecraft Launcher Sign in Issue

When I launched the Minecraft Launcher, it would direct to me to sign in via my Microsoft account. I tried signing in with my account several times but instead, being led directly to an Error 400 Page. Whats strange is that I was able to sign in with that same account onto Minecraft.net online. I literally cannot get to the launch page. If someone can fix this issue for me, that would be most appreciated.

(I use a Macbook and I have deleted/reinstalled the game but to no avail)

It seems like you're experiencing a sign-in issue with the Minecraft Launcher that leads to an Error 400 page, despite being able to sign in on Minecraft.net. Here are a few steps you might consider to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable and not causing interruptions during the sign-in process.
    2. Clear Cache and Cookies: Sometimes, cached data can lead to sign-in issues. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies, or use a different browser to sign in.
    3. Update Gaming Services: Since you are using a Mac, ensure that any relevant gaming services are up to date. While the context provided does not specifically mention Mac, keeping all related software updated is generally a good practice.
    4. Try a Different Account: If possible, try signing in with a different Microsoft account to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is account-specific.
    5. Reinstall the Launcher: Although you mentioned that you have already deleted and reinstalled the game, ensure that you completely remove any residual files before reinstalling to avoid conflicts.
    6. Check for Service Outages: Occasionally, there may be service outages affecting sign-in capabilities. Check the official Minecraft or Microsoft support pages for any announcements regarding service issues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

    Hi Daniel Ma,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

I understand how frustrating it is to get stuck on an Error 400 page when signing in through the Minecraft Launcher on macOS. Since you’ve already tried reinstalling, here are a few additional steps you can try:

1 - Clear the Launcher's cache and corrupted credentials

    • Close the Minecraft Launcher completely and open Finder
    • Go to these folders, and move all of them to the Trash:
      • ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
      • ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.authentication
      • ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.identity
      • ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.Office
      • ~/Library/Application Support/com.mojang
    • Empty the Trash > restart your Mac and try signing in again.

2 - Check default browser settings

    • Set another browser as your default temporarily (e.g. Safari > Chrome)
    • Ensure cookies and JavaScript are enabled > Retry the sign-in process.

Since you've already tried reinstalling the game, the issue is likely with the leftover cache data. I hope the information above can help you get out of this frustrating situation!
