Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Is your School/Work account currently the administrator on your PC?

To switch to a personal account without losing data:

    1. Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info.
    2. Select “Sign in with a local account instead.”
    3. Follow the prompts to create and switch to a local account.
    4. Once done, sign out, then sign back in using the new local user profile.

Next, to connect your personal Microsoft account:

    1. Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info again.
    2. Select “Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.”
    3. Enter your personal email address and complete the setup.
    4. Sign out, then sign back in to the user profile now linked to your personal Microsoft account.

Your apps and personal files should remain available under this profile, but it’s always a good idea to back up important data before making account changes.
