My email account was compromised this morning and sent out an email with a link to click and attachment to many or maybe all of my contacts. Attached is the picture of the email sent. I've had my account password changed. Is there anything else i need to do to ensure my account is no longer compromised?

    Hi @Colin Williamson

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing details of your situation. I understand how concerning it can be when your account is compromised, and you’ve already taken a great first step by changing your password.

To make sure your account is fully protected, here are a few additional actions we recommend:

    1/ Access Microsoft security settings

    Visit: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info

    2/ Select "Sign out everywhere"

    • In the Security info section, select Sign out everywhere.
    • This action will disconnect your account from all devices and apps, including those that had "Stay signed in" turned on.  User's image

    3/ Update your password

    • Choose Change Password (or Change at the Password line, under Security info) and set a strong, unique password.

For more information, please refer to the following link: Responding to a Compromised Email Account

Additionally, you can contact your organization’s IT/Security team and report this with all details (including the screenshot you have). They can check for:

    • Any unauthorized access to company systems.
    • Whether the attacker created hidden rules or linked accounts.
    • Logs for suspicious activity.
    • Monitor for similar phishing attempts and alert others in case the attacker tries to impersonate.

Additionally, as other users have raised similar concerns and may not be aware of where to share their feedback, I hope this response helps clarify the situation and suggests a potential next step. Highlighting this information can make it more visible to others in the community who may be facing the same issue, making it easier for them to find guidance and contribute their feedback as well.

Thank you again for your time and for raising this important usability concern. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your kindness and for contributing to the forum.
