I purchased a copy of "Office Home & Student 2021" on 01-08-2023.

Because of a computer problem this month, I had to reinstall Windows. I had to reinstall Office as a consequence. My Microsoft account shows that I own a copy of "Office Home & Student 2021" for my computer, but after reinstalling I still get the following message when using programs like Word:

"Activation Status: We're still trying to activate office. You can keep using Word without interruption until Thursday, January 15 2026."

How do I address this activation problem?

FYI: After several hours online with tech support, the problem was finally diagnosed and resolved. It turns out that the time-zone function in Windows as interfering with product activation. I probably never would have figured out such a random-seeming problem without help. Happy to have it fixed now.

    Hello, Gregory Harold.

Check in any of the Office applications in the "Account" section on the homepage to make sure that the account is the same one on which this Office was activated after purchase. If the account matches, but activation fails, then contact Microsoft Support in the chat. To do this, log in to your MS account on the page https://support.microsoft.com/en-US/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=www.microsoft.com

In the search bar, type (without quotes) "agent support" and press Enter or click on Get Help. Ignore the search results, and click on the "Contact Support" button at the bottom. On the next page, select "Microsoft 365 and Office" and "Technical Support" from the drop-down lists, and then click on "Confirm". Next, select the chat "Chat with a support agent in your web browser". A chat window will open in a new tab. Wait for the operator to respond and explain the situation to him. After checking the license, activation will be restored to you.

Note. The chat is available during business hours and on business days according to US time.
