Hello,

I’m trying to completely uninstall Microsoft 365 (Office) from my Windows laptop.

Normally I would use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) to remove Office, but when I start it I only get a message saying that Microsoft has integrated the Support and Recovery Assistant troubleshooters into Get Help (Windows built-in app). It tells me to continue via “Running troubleshooters in Get Help”.

However, when I open the Get Help app, I cannot find any troubleshooting option that allows me to uninstall / remove Microsoft 365 (Office). I searched in English for terms like:

  • “Microsoft 365 uninstall”

“Office uninstall”

“SaRA”

“Support and Recovery Assistant”

“Remove Office”

“Running troubleshooters”

but nothing appears or it just shows general help articles, not an actual removal tool.

My goal: I want to fully remove Microsoft 365 from this device (including leftover components if possible) because I need a clean reinstall / cleanup.

Questions:

Where exactly is the Microsoft 365 / Office removal troubleshooter inside Get Help?

Is there a direct link / command to launch the correct troubleshooter in Get Help?

If SaRA is no longer supported for this, what is the official Microsoft way to completely remove Office / Microsoft 365 from Windows?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.Hello,

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

The SaRA tool has now been integrated into the Windows Get Help app. So, if you click the Uninstall troubleshooter link, it will open the Get Help app on your device.

You can then follow the prompts in the Get Help app to run this troubleshooter and completely uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office applications from your device.

Next, a PowerShell script will run to completely uninstall the Office applications on your device.

Manual Uninstall: Alternatively, go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program, locate Microsoft Office in the list, and uninstall it from your computer.

To completely uninstall Microsoft 365 (Office) from your Windows laptop, you can follow these steps:

    1. Use the Microsoft 365 Uninstall Troubleshooter: Although you mentioned that SaRA redirects you to the Get Help app, you can still use the Microsoft 365 Uninstall troubleshooter directly. To do this, you can download the troubleshooter from the Microsoft website. This tool is designed to help you remove Office completely from your device.
    2. Manual Uninstallation: If the troubleshooter does not work or is not available, you can manually uninstall Microsoft 365 by going to the Control Panel:
      • Open the Control Panel.
      • Click on "Programs and Features."
      • Find Microsoft 365 in the list, select it, and click "Uninstall."
    3. Remove Leftover Components: After uninstalling, you may want to ensure that all leftover components are removed. You can do this by:
      • Checking the Program Files and Program Files (x86) directories for any remaining Microsoft Office folders and deleting them.
      • Using a third-party uninstaller tool that can help remove leftover files and registry entries associated with Microsoft 365.
    4. Reinstalling: Once you have fully uninstalled Microsoft 365, you can proceed to reinstall it if needed. Make sure to download the correct version for your system.

Currently, there is no specific option in the Get Help app for uninstalling Microsoft 365, as it primarily provides general help articles. The recommended method is to use the uninstall troubleshooter or the Control Panel method mentioned above.

If you encounter issues during the uninstallation, you can refer to the official Microsoft documentation for further assistance.
