    Hi James Yu,

Thank you for reaching out on the Microsoft Q&A.

After uploading a video to Azure AI Video Indexer, the analysis (timeline, transcription, faces, scenes, tags, etc.) is created automatically, but it won’t appear immediately. A couple of things to double‑check based on your description:

    • Indexing status: Make sure the video has finished processing. In the Video Indexer portal, you should see a status such as Processing or Completed. Insights only show after indexing is complete.
    • Open the video itself: The analysis tabs (Timeline / Insights) appear only after you click into the uploaded video from the library view. They won’t be visible at the upload screen.
    • Account / tier limitations: Some insights may be limited depending on region, language, or the free tier, but you should still see basic tabs once indexing completes.

For comparing two videos, Video Indexer doesn’t currently provide a direct “compare” button. The common approach is to upload both videos, review their individual insights (transcripts, detected faces, keywords, scenes), and compare those results manually or via the REST APIs.

If the video shows as Completed but no tabs appear at all, do let me know.

Hope this helps clarify how Video Indexer behaves.

    Thankyou!

To analyze your video using Azure AI Video Indexer, follow these steps:

    1. Upload Your Video: After registering for a free Azure account and the Video Indexer, ensure that you upload your video successfully. The indexing process will start automatically after the upload.
    2. Check the Timeline and Insights: Once the video is uploaded and indexed, you can view the analysis results. Navigate to the Timeline tab to see the video transcript and the Insights tab for detailed analysis, which includes categories such as Faces, Topics, Labels, and Named entities. This will provide you with insights like transcription, emotion analysis, object recognition, and more.
    3. Compare Two Videos: To compare two videos, you can upload both videos to the Video Indexer and analyze the insights generated for each. Look for similarities and differences in the insights provided, such as the number of detected faces, emotions, or keywords.

If you do not see the expected insights, ensure that the video has finished processing and check the Library tab for your indexed videos. If the indexing is complete, select your video to view the insights.
