Hi James Yu,
Thank you for reaching out on the Microsoft Q&A.
After uploading a video to Azure AI Video Indexer, the analysis (timeline, transcription, faces, scenes, tags, etc.) is created automatically, but it won’t appear immediately. A couple of things to double‑check based on your description:
- Indexing status: Make sure the video has finished processing. In the Video Indexer portal, you should see a status such as Processing or Completed. Insights only show after indexing is complete.
- Open the video itself: The analysis tabs (Timeline / Insights) appear only after you click into the uploaded video from the library view. They won’t be visible at the upload screen.
- Account / tier limitations: Some insights may be limited depending on region, language, or the free tier, but you should still see basic tabs once indexing completes.
For comparing two videos, Video Indexer doesn’t currently provide a direct “compare” button. The common approach is to upload both videos, review their individual insights (transcripts, detected faces, keywords, scenes), and compare those results manually or via the REST APIs.
If the video shows as Completed but no tabs appear at all, do let me know.
Hope this helps clarify how Video Indexer behaves.
Thankyou!
