KB5005565 Approval for removal not working

Hi All,

After the installation of KB5005565 we have some problems with our laptops and desktops in our domain.

We manually removed the KB on some laptops and desktops and the problems where gone.

So in WSUS I have searched for the KB and selected Approval for removal with a deadline in the past.

The only thing is when I search on windows updates now the KB doesn't get removed.

The laptops and desktops are saying they are up-to-date and when I look in WSUS the status says not installed.

Can somebody help us?

Thanks for your posting on Q&A.

In my opinion, the action you tried to remove the KB5005565 will take effect at the next schedule scan time. Please be patient for a while and review the result.

Please feel free to inform me if there are any updates of the case.

Rita

hello Thijs,

Sorry for the delay. I was out of the office last week and I could not response in time. We're very sorry for any inconvenience that may caused.

I tested it in my lab and result is as the same. It seems that we could not remove the installed LCUs by this method. Also I tested it that we could remove the LCU-KB5006670 by running wusa /uninstall /kb:5006670 command.

Thanks for your feedback.

How many clients encounter this issue? The issue appeared on all the clients. Am I right?

In addition, please try to run the below command to remove the update:
wusa /uninstall /kb:5005565

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

It seem that registry keys in this article has fixed the problems of freezing apps etc https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-emergency-update-resolves-kb5005565-app-freezes-crashes/

To bad, adding the registry key does not solve the problems.
We still have a lot of desktop/laptops that haves app freezing.

I'm sorry that I leave out of the office. So I missed the response.

I tested it in my lab already. It failed in windows 10 clients. But We could remove the installed CUs in windows 8.1 by this method. I suspected that the issue is due to the LCU. As we all know, the latest SSU and LCU combined into the same package. By default, the SSU could not be removed. Please try to remove the LCU by wusa /uninstall /kb:5005565 or DISM/Remove-Package commands.

Perhaps it is not the best way but it is the only way I could think of to help.

Hope the above will be helpful. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Rita

Hi @RitaHu-MSFT ,

Thanks for all your help.

If i am correct the new KB5006670 should fix the problem of KB5005565.
But if we install this update there are still the same problems.

Does anybody else also haves this problem?

In my opinion, all the issues and solution will be notified in this link after installing the monthly security updates. According to this link, there is no such issue in KB5006670 update.

Rita

Oke strange, when we remove the new KB5006670 the problems with suspended apps are gone.
It also looks like that the Approval for removal is not working for this KB, is it possible that you can confirm that?
