Hello Jeff Batts, thanks for posting this in the community.

Are you getting any error messages, or does Outlook simply become unresponsive?

You can try repairing your Outlook OST file. Close Outlook, then go to this location on your computer: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook Find the OST file and delete it. Outlook will automatically recreate a fresh copy when you reopen it.

If the issue continues, try creating a new Outlook profile. Close Outlook, open the Control Panel, go to Mail, then select Show Profiles. Choose Add and create a new profile, then set it as the profile Outlook should always use.

If Outlook is still freezing, repair the Office installation. Go to Settings, open Apps, then Installed Apps, look for Microsoft 365, select Modify, and choose Online Repair to rebuild any damaged components.

    Kind regards,

    John Oli

If Microsoft Outlook is locking up or not opening at all, you can try several troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check for Add-Ins: Sometimes, add-ins can cause Outlook to hang. Start Outlook in safe mode by typing Outlook /safe in the Run dialog (Windows key + R). If Outlook works fine in safe mode, disable all add-ins and then enable them one by one to identify the problematic one.
    2. Repair Office: You can perform a repair of your Office installation. Go to Control Panel, select "Uninstall a program," find your Office installation, right-click it, and choose "Change" then select "Online Repair."
    3. Create a New Outlook Profile: Sometimes, the Outlook profile may be corrupted. You can create a new profile by going to Control Panel, clicking on "Mail," selecting "Show Profiles," and then adding a new profile.
    4. Run Outlook Diagnostics: Use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant to diagnose and fix issues with Outlook. This tool can help identify connectivity issues and other problems.
    5. Selective Startup: You can also perform a selective startup to check if any background services are causing the issue. Use System Configuration (msconfig) to disable all non-Microsoft services and startup items, then restart your computer to see if the problem persists.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reinstalling Outlook or checking for updates to ensure you have the latest version.
