How can I change the language in my OneDrive?

I'm Finnish but once decided to change my language on my laptop to German, because I study German. Changing the main language on my laptop to German, it also changed the language on my OneDrive and Microsoft Office etc.

I turned the language on my laptop back to finnish a while back, but my Office is still in German. When I go to the settings to change it, it's showing that my main and only language chosen is Finnish. I have tried everything in my knowledge to change it, but it just can't seem to change no matter how hard I try.

I've even tried to change the language to English, but it is still in German.

I don't know what I can even do, I'm frustrated and just want to change the language.

    Hi @Venla Urponen

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your situation. What is most likely happening is that Microsoft 365 and OneDrive are not strictly following the current Windows display language. When the device language was previously set to German, that preference was saved at the Microsoft account and application level. Changing Windows back to Finnish does not always automatically update those services.

Please follow the steps below in order, as each layer can affect the language used by Office and OneDrive.

    1. Confirm the Microsoft account language

    User's image

    • Set Finnish or English as the primary language.
    • Remove German if it is listed.
    • Save the changes and sign out.
    1. Reset Office language settings
    • Open an Office app such as Word.
    • Go to File, Options, Language.
    • Under Office display language, set Finnish or English as preferred.
    • Repeat the same under Office authoring languages.
    • Close and reopen the Office app.
    1. Reset OneDrive settings
    • Press Windows key + R and run wsreset.exe.
    • Restart the computer.
    1. Check Windows regional settings
    • Go to Settings, Time & Language, Language & Region.
    • Set Country or Region to Finland.
    • Set Regional format to Finnish.
    • Restart the device.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow the steps above and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can continue working together to resolve the issue.

Ohh my days sorry, totally forgot about this for a while because I've not been working with Word that much recently and don't have the email notifications on for this.

I just now noticed that OneDrive and the home page have changed to Finnish. Don't know if it's because of me trying to change it or what, but it is now back to Finnish.

However when I opened a new document, it is still in German. I have no idea why. When I open any apps from my onedrive, they're in finnish but once I open any document, it is still in German.

I'm happy my OneDrive's language has changed, but rather confused about the documents still being in German.

I truly do appreciate you helping me and am sorry for the long wait.
