My Microsoft account was hacked in order to log in to my Minecraft account, which they then switched the email used to log in to that so now I cant log into my Minecraft account.

I already contacted Minecraft support about this but they just told me to go to Microsoft support since its like an account issue but I dont even know what to say really.

The problem is that someone got into my Microsoft account, logged into Minecraft (literally my Microsoft account was untouched and everything besides my Minecraft) and then they like changed the emails on my Minecraft account? I mean I didnt even know you could do that actually but since im not really getting any help anywhere, and I guess there could also be not much to do about this I think i’ll just get another account and start over. I do care about my username on that account though so I am bummed out about that.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

I'm sorry you are experiencing this.

Based on your description, your Microsoft account was compromised. The hacker was able to remove the account's primary email address/security info and replace it with their own email address.

The only way to recover a hacked Microsoft/Minecraft account is through the official Microsoft troubleshooter guide:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-recover-a-hacked-or-compromised-microsoft-account-24ca907d-bcdf-a44b-4656-47f0cd89c245

If the account recovery web form doesn't work, and since the security info has been replaced by the hacker, I'm afraid there is no other working method to recover the Microsoft account, and Microsoft Support cannot help either.

Moving forward, I highly recommend checking this link on how to secure your account further to prevent this from happening again: https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-help-keep-your-microsoft-account-secure-628538c2-7006-33bb-5ef4-c917657362b9

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

If your Microsoft account has been compromised and someone has changed the email associated with your Minecraft account, it is important to take immediate action. Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Recover Your Microsoft Account: Start by attempting to recover your Microsoft account using the account recovery form. You can find this on the Microsoft account sign-in page. Make sure to provide as much information as possible to verify your identity.
    2. Contact Microsoft Support: Since Minecraft support directed you to Microsoft support, you should reach out to them directly. Explain your situation clearly, including that your account was hacked and the email associated with your Minecraft account was changed. You can mention that you have already contacted Minecraft support.
    3. Secure Your Account: If you regain access to your Microsoft account, immediately change your password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to enhance security. This will help prevent future unauthorized access.
    4. Check for Unauthorized Activity: Review your account activity for any unauthorized purchases or changes. If you notice anything suspicious, report it to Microsoft support.
    5. Consider Creating a New Account: If you are unable to recover your Minecraft account and you are concerned about losing your username, you might want to create a new account. However, it’s best to exhaust all recovery options first.

It's understandable to feel frustrated in this situation, but taking these steps can help you regain control of your account and protect your information.
