Hi

I have tried the normal account reset but Im rejected every time (my daughter doesn't use the email address for sending emails, its to access online gaming) any ideas? Ive tried for the past hour and getting nowhere

If the account has not been signed in to for more than 2 years, I’m afraid it may already have been deleted due to inactivity.

As stated by Microsoft, accounts that have not been signed in or have been locked for more than 2 years will be deleted due to inactivity, and they can no longer be recovered: https://support.microsoft.com/topic/microsoft-account-activity-policy-7c0a9fa7-0982-b7c6-fd72-df852b63699f

If the account does not have an active 2FA and you do not have access to the verification method, I'm afraid the only way to recover the account is through the account recovery web form: https://account.live.com/acsr

You'll need to keep trying until you're verified by Microsoft, and you can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

If your Microsoft account recovery request was not granted, please review this link for tips on improving your chances of a successful recovery: https://support.microsoft.com/office/dc56c3e3-dff0-4ed5-8edb-60290eea6b53

Please be advised that Microsoft Support will not be able to grant you access to any account.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

It is not possible to reset a child account's password through Microsoft Family. You will need to perform a normal account reset procedure.

If I may ask, do you or your daughter have access to the security information/verification methods, email, or phone number linked to her account?

Did she have two-factor authentication (2FA) active on the account? If yes, is she able to access the second factor of authentication?

Also, does she still have the 25-character recovery codes for 2FA?

Lastly, may I know when was the last time your child successfully signed in to her Microsoft account?

    Best regards,

    Darhyl
