Received an email saying that i had to update Outlook. I have a subscription for Microsoft 365 which includes Outlook.

Hovering over the email address in the suspect email, it is a bunch of random characters and numbers. So , I assumed this is a scam. Am i correct?

Yes, you are correct to be suspicious of the email you received. If the sender's email address appears as a random string of characters and numbers, it is likely a phishing attempt. Phishing emails often use deceptive tactics to trick recipients into providing personal information or downloading malicious software. It is advisable not to click on any links or provide any information in response to such emails. Always verify the authenticity of emails claiming to be from Microsoft or any other service before taking any action.
