To receive the OTP (One-Time Password) via email instead of your old mobile number, you generally need to update your account recovery options. However, if your account is currently set to send OTPs to your mobile number, you may not have the option to change this directly during the sign-in process.

Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Account Recovery: Since you mentioned trying to recover your account via the link provided, ensure that you follow all the steps correctly. Sometimes, you may need to verify your identity through other means.
    2. Contact Support: If recovery options are not working, you might need to contact Microsoft support directly for assistance. They can help you unlock your account and possibly change the OTP delivery method.
    3. Check for Alternative Recovery Options: If you have set up any alternative recovery methods (like a secondary email), you might be able to receive the OTP there.

Unfortunately, without access to your old mobile number, the options may be limited, and contacting support is likely your best course of action.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Microsoft Q&A is public, and we can only provide information. It is beyond our capability to assist directly with the account or login-related issues.

Since you no longer have access to the old mobile number, the recovery form you already tried is the correct path.

If it’s already been a few weeks, you can check this page: "Account recovery unsuccessful" https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/account-recovery-unsuccessful-dc56c3e3-dff0-4ed5-8edb-60290eea6b53 it includes extra tips from Microsoft that could improve your chances.

Fill out the form as accurately as you can, include any old passwords, subjects of recent emails, or contacts you remember. The more details you provide, the better the chances of recovering your account.

If you have any recurring subscriptions or payments linked to this email, I also recommend contacting your bank or card provider to block those charges until your account is secured.

I know this process can take some time, but this is currently the only way Microsoft can verify ownership without access to the old phone number.

Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
