Hello Bob Hammer, welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
From other user discussions online, on newer Windows 11 versions, Windows Media Player no longer pulls track titles automatically when ripping audio CDs. Microsoft retired the online CD metadata lookup that WMP relied on, so titles no longer auto‑populate and there is no supported way to restore that behavior.
If you want to keep using WMP, manual entry is the only option. Otherwise, these are the practical alternatives:
- Use a third‑party ripper that still queries online databases, such as Exact Audio Copy, foobar2000, MediaMonkey, or iTunes.
- Rip the CD with another tool, then edit or verify tags afterward with a tag editor.
