Help!!! Bag problem in my gpu hd 8730m after installing new win 10 in my laptop

2026-01-17T15:49:13.7+00:00

I can't seem to update my old GPU to the final version. It gets stuck at 98%. Before that, there is a windows pop-up saying that I need to restart the pc to set up AMD Crash Defender. The computer just hangs and I need to force shut down which ruins the installation and keeps on crashing when I try to restart my computer. I installed DDU and removed the driver (via safemode) which lets me in the desktop but the same thing keeps happening when I try to install the final version. I tried to install the old version before all this but that too yields the same result. I'm on Windows 10

My laptop dell inspiron 15 5526

The driver from amd not dell

Because dell driver from 2015 so old

    Hi,

That's because the driver needs to be modified. You'll do the following: access the device manager > select the AMD driver > properties > Details > Hardware ID. Copy and paste it here.

    Thanks

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your AMD HD 8730M GPU driver installation on your Dell Inspiron 15 5526 after upgrading to Windows 10. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

    1. Ensure Internet Connectivity: Make sure your laptop is connected to the internet during the installation process, as Windows Update (WU) may need to download additional drivers.
    2. Use Windows Update: After uninstalling the current drivers using DDU in safe mode, check for updates in Windows Settings under "Update & Security". Sometimes, suitable drivers are delivered through WU.
    3. Install Drivers Manually: If WU does not provide the necessary drivers, you can manually download the latest drivers from the AMD website. Ensure that you select the correct drivers for your GPU model and Windows version.
    4. Check for Coverage Drivers: If you receive a generic driver (coverage driver), it may lack OEM customizations, which can lead to functionality issues. In such cases, you may need to revert to an older version of the driver that worked previously.
    5. Clean Installation: If issues persist, consider performing a clean installation of Windows 10. Before doing this, ensure you have all necessary drivers downloaded, as a clean install will not retain any drivers.
    6. Check Compatibility: Since your GPU is older, it may have reached End-Of-Life (EOL) status, meaning it may not receive updates or support from AMD. You can check the AMD website for any notes on driver support for older GPUs.

If the problem continues after trying these steps, it may be worth reaching out to AMD support or checking forums for similar issues with the HD 8730M and Windows 10 installations.
