had a recent microsoft 365 account on a now destroyed laptop computer. How do I access that account? I have not been able to access it; I only get directed to sign up when I believe I am still enrolled.

I had Microsoft 365 with WORD, EXCEL, Outlook, PowerPoint on a computer that stopped working in November 2025. I need to access that account and add my new computer and delete that old computer. Or, cancel that subscription and possibly get a refund for unused portion and then add another account.

To access your Microsoft 365 account from your destroyed laptop, you can try the following steps:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft Account: Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page and enter the email address associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription. If you can successfully log in, you will be able to manage your subscription and devices.
    2. Check Subscription Status: Once logged in, navigate to the subscription section to verify if your subscription is still active. You can also check if the old device is still listed under your account.
    3. Remove Old Device: If your old laptop is still listed, you can remove it from your account. This will allow you to install Microsoft 365 on your new computer.
    4. Reinstall on New Computer: After removing the old device, you can install Microsoft 365 on your new laptop by signing in to your account and following the installation instructions.
    5. Cancel Subscription: If you wish to cancel your subscription and possibly request a refund, you can do this from the subscription management section of your account. Make sure to check the refund policy for any specific conditions.

If you encounter issues during this process, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.

    Hello,

    Is it a subscription?

Sign into your Microsoft account https://account.live.com > subscription, do you see a Microsoft 365 personal or family plan there? If so, make sure it is still active and not expired.

Then you can just go ahead and install on the new computer:

    Please go to https://www.office.com

Sign into the Microsoft account you used for the subscription. Click on Apps on the left.

Then on the upper right, click on "Install apps". This will now download the installer file. Once downloaded, click on the file to install. It will install the Desktop version of the apps for you then.
