I need tech support for my Microsoft Outlook software.

I must have accidentally & unknowingly set some sort of timer on my MS/Outlook software. For the last few days, it normally (but not always) kicks me out with no warning saying in a pop-up window that my "session has expired" many times after only 60-or-so seconds on logging in. This is making MS/Outlook virtually unusable for me as I'm NOT a fast typist. Please help me get rid of this timer or setting ASAP. Thanks. I'll appreciate any relief &/or insight you can provide.

It seems like you are experiencing a session timeout issue with Microsoft Outlook. This can occur due to various reasons, including settings related to your account or network configurations. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Outlook is up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that may cause session issues. You can install the latest updates for Outlook by following the instructions for your version of Windows.
    2. Repair Outlook: You can try repairing your Office installation. This can help fix any corrupted files that might be causing the issue. To do this, go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and then choose the Repair option.
    3. Check for Conflicting Applications: Sometimes, third-party applications can interfere with Outlook. If you have any applications that access Outlook data, consider disabling them temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.
    4. Network Settings: If you are using a metered connection, it might affect how Outlook connects to the server. Ensure that your network settings are configured correctly.
    5. User Profile: If your user profile is corrupted, it can lead to various issues, including session timeouts. You might want to create a new Outlook profile and see if that resolves the problem.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

    Hi @Steve Sain,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum.

When you see “Your session has expired”, it usually means your sign‑in token is being invalidated by the app, browser, or your account’s security rules not by something you manually turned on.

Since you’d like this issue resolved promptly through a live conduct, given the nature of the problem, the most effective next step is reaching out to your IT admin and ask them to use their admin credentials to submit a support request through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center on your behalf. This route ensures that a Microsoft support engineer can initiate a remote session to investigate backend configurations, run advanced diagnostic tools, and, if necessary, escalate the case to specialized teams with access to internal systems and logs. These backend resources are essential for resolving issues that go beyond what’s visible in the user interface.

As community moderators, we’re here to guide you, but due to privacy and security limitations, we don’t have access to the backend tools required for a full resolution. For this reason, contacting Microsoft Support via the Admin Center is the most secure and efficient way forward.

I sincerely recommend your IT admin to create a support ticket from Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Support > Help & Support.

Microsoft also provides customer service phone numbers based on your region. You can find the appropriate contact number here: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

In some countries, it is an automated conversation like:

IVR: What kind of problem are you concerned about?

    You: Outlook

IVR: What kind of product do you use?

    You: Office 365 for business.

IVR confirmation: education or company account?

    You: For business

    IVR: Are you an administrator?

    You: Yes.

IVR: Do you have another administrator in your organization?

    You: No.

IVR: Do you need a... Service request?

You: Yes. I need to create a ticket.

I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.
