If your files are missing from the OneDrive Recycle Bin, it may be due to a few reasons:
- Recycle Bin Limitations: OneDrive has a retention policy where deleted files are kept in the Recycle Bin for a limited time. For personal accounts, files are kept for 30 days before they are permanently deleted. If you moved files to the Recycle Bin and they are no longer there, they may have been permanently deleted after this period.
- Second-stage Recycle Bin: For work or school accounts, there is a second-stage Recycle Bin where deleted items are kept for an additional 93 days after being removed from the first stage. If you are using a work or school account, check the second-stage Recycle Bin to see if your files are there.
- Storage Issues: If your OneDrive account is over the storage limit, it may prevent you from restoring files. Ensure that you have enough storage available to restore any deleted files.
If the files are not in either Recycle Bin and you cannot restore them, unfortunately, there may not be a native method to recover them. You could consider using third-party recovery tools, but success is not guaranteed.
For future reference, you can also utilize the OneDrive Files Restore feature, which allows you to restore files to any point over the past 30 days, provided they are still available in your account.
