I've just logged in only to read, although I've paid for it, that the Windows Support has finished. How do I check my payments - and where to do this, and also does the paid support give the same security coverage as Windows 11 ?

Many thanks, Des E Gershon.

To check your payments for the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, you would typically need to refer to the account or service through which you purchased the ESU. This could be through Microsoft directly or a partner organization. You may want to check your email for receipts or confirmation messages related to your purchase. Additionally, you can log into your Microsoft account to review your subscriptions and payment history.

Regarding security coverage, the ESU program provides critical and important security updates for Windows 10 devices that are enrolled in the program. However, it does not include new features or customer-requested non-security updates. In comparison, Windows 11 receives regular updates that include both security and feature enhancements. Therefore, while the ESU program does offer some level of security coverage, it may not be as comprehensive as what is provided with Windows 11.

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand you’ve already paid for Windows and are now seeing a message that support has ended, and you want to know how to verify your payments and whether paid support provides the same level of protection as Windows 11.

I know how confusing and concerning it can feel when you see an end‑of‑support message, especially when you’ve invested in the operating system and want to make sure your device remains secure.

Microsoft officially ended standard support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, and after this date, devices no longer receive free security patches.  To continue receiving security updates, Microsoft introduced the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, a paid extension that provides critical and important security fixes—but no new features, bug fixes, or general support.

For consumers, ESU offers one additional year of updates through October 13, 2026, via paid options or alternative enrollment paths such as OneDrive Backup or Microsoft Rewards.  You can check your Microsoft payments including ESU purchases by signing in at account.microsoft.com/billing under Order history.

It’s important to know that ESU only provides security updates, not the broader security protections and platform improvements available in Windows 11. Windows 11 continues to receive full operating system updates, compatibility improvements, and new security capabilities that Windows 10 ESU does not include.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel
