    Hi David Westropp-Evans

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand how disruptive this is when your email won’t connect on your desktop.

To help me provide more specific guidance for you, can you please clarify:

    • What exact error message do you see when signing in (e.g., "account locked", "try another verification method", etc.)?
    • Do you have any verification methods linked, like a phone number or email address?

In the meantime, here's what you should do:

    1. Use Microsoft’s official "verification code not received" checks

When sign-in asking for identity verification, a common blocker is that codes don’t arrive or the security info shown doesn’t match what you expect. Microsoft provides an official guide for verification code issues here: Troubleshoot Microsoft account verification code issues - Microsoft Support

    2. If you can’t receive the code on your phone number

    • If the sign-in screen offers another verification option (alternate email / Authenticator / etc.), use that instead. Please check how verification methods work and how codes are sent in this official support link: Microsoft account security info & verification codes - Microsoft Support
    • If the screen shows "I don’t have any of these", select it and follow the prompts.

    3. Check your internet connection

    • Make sure your device has a stable internet connection and try switching networks (e.g., switch from Wi-Fi to mobile hotspot) then try again.
    • Clear your browser cache/cookies
    • Use a different browser/ device or in incognito mode
    • Try signing in https://outlook.live.com again

    4. Contact Microsoft Support Team directly

If you want to talk to an agent, please reach out directly to Contact - Microsoft Support

    • Type a brief description of your issue in the search box.
    • Click "Get Help", then scroll to the bottom and select "Contact Support”.
    • When prompted to select Products & Services, select "Other Products"; Under Category, select "Manage account security".
    • Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" (during business hours) or a similar callback option (if available). Explain your situation clearly.
    • Please note that The Chat support team only works at certain times, so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can contact you back and help you further.

For more details, you can see these official troubleshooting guides:

Please feel free to let me know how it goes or if you need help with contact support. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
