how can i access onedrive from deleted gmail account

my son connected his Gmail account ****email address removed for privacy to my work laptop and all my desktop files disappeared after delinking and linking to my work email. Am unable to recover the gmail account and it seems it was deleted. The code is being sent to that account ,is it possible to use a phone number to receive the code

The reason all of your desktop documents and files disappeared after unlinking your son's Gmail account is that they were backed up to your son's OneDrive cloud storage as online‑only files. When you unlink the account, those online‑only files are removed from your device. However, the files are still available in your son's OneDrive cloud storage and can be accessed by signing into that account.

What exact error message do you see when you try to sign in with your son's Gmail account here?

When you say the account was "deleted," what do you mean exactly? Did you permanently close the account, or did you remove the @gmail.com alias from your son's account?
