To restore deleted text from a Word document that has already been saved, you can try the following methods:

    1. Check Version History: If your document is saved on OneDrive or SharePoint, you can use the version history feature to revert to a previous version of the document that contains the deleted text. This can be done by right-clicking the document in OneDrive or SharePoint and selecting "Version History."
    2. AutoRecover Files: If you have AutoRecover enabled, you can check for AutoRecover files. Open Word, go to File > Info > Manage Document > Recover Unsaved Documents. This may show you unsaved versions of the document.
    3. Temporary Files: You can also search for temporary files that Word may have created. Look for files with the .asd extension by searching in the Windows search bar for *.asd.
    4. Restore from Recycle Bin: If you deleted the document entirely, check the Recycle Bin to see if the original document is still there.

If these methods do not work, unfortunately, recovering the deleted text may not be possible if the current version has overwritten all previous data without saving it elsewhere.

    Hello @Zoey Zoey,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the details you provided, it appears that you are experiencing an issue related to restoring data that was accidentally overwritten. Unfortunately, in this scenario, the data cannot be recovered using the Version History feature, as it does not support reverting this specific type of change.

Unlike Microsoft Excel, which offers the Show Changes feature, Microsoft Word currently does not include an equivalent functionality. At this time, Word only provides the Track Changes feature for monitoring document edits, as referenced in the Microsoft Support documentation: Track changes in Word - Microsoft Support

Your feedback regarding this limitation is greatly appreciated. Many users would benefit from more comprehensive change‑tracking capabilities in Word, and expanding such features would certainly improve flexibility and support a wider range of collaboration scenarios. Suggestions like yours play an important role in guiding future enhancements and improving the overall user experience.

To ensure your recommendation is reviewed by the appropriate product engineering teams, I encourage you to submit it through the Word · Community, which serves as the official channel for feature requests and user feedback. Submissions made there are actively monitored and considered for potential future development.

If you require further assistance or have additional questions, please feel free to let us know. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and we remain committed to supporting you in making the most of Microsoft 365 services.
