The dates for the summary tasks (WBS) are not calculating correctly. The summary task is not picking up the dates from the sub tasks. Task mode is auto schedule and calculate options is auto.

    Dear @Tan Siang Teng

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To help investigate this correctly, could you please help me share a copy of the Project file with me?

I’d like to review the exact task settings, dependencies, constraints, and calendars inside the file so I can understand why the summary task dates are not matching.

For privacy reasons, you can send the file via Private Message.

How to send a Private Message:

At the top of this page (where your post is), you should see a notification icon.

    Click on “View message”.

You can then attach the Project file and send it to me privately.

Once I have the file, I’ll check the settings and get back to you with my findings.

    Looking forward to your response!

    Tan Siang Teng,

Just looking at the screen shot you posted gives some insight about your plan.

    1. The duration of task ID 1265 is 10 days but the time span between the task start and task finish is much longer. This indicates the task has a split. The most likely reason is the task was started but not completed within the 10 day window. At some point later the plan was updated with the option to move uncompleted work to the status date.
    2. The start date of task ID 1266 is 24 Nov 25 but it has three predecessors, one of which should push the task start to at least the finish of task ID 1265 plus 7 days. That tells me task ID 1266 has an entry in the Actual Start field of 24 Nov 25 which will make all predecessors null and void..

There may be other factors impacting the plan (i.e. project calendar, task constraints, resource assignments, etc.) which might also contribute to the issue but the two items above should provide a good starting point.

    John
