Ordered and installed Office for home and business 2024 on MacBook Pro. Now I'm getting messages after attempting to update the software that it can't be updated because "2019 version is no longer supported"

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how confusing and inconvenient it is when you have just installed the latest version but Outlook or Microsoft AutoUpdate reports that an older Office 2019 version is no longer supported. This usually happens when remnants of Office 2019 are still installed on the device, and Microsoft AutoUpdate detects those older components before it recognizes the new 2024 apps, which prevents updates from completing correctly. The best step is to fully remove any leftover Office 2019 files by using the official uninstall steps for Mac, then restart your device and run Microsoft AutoUpdate again to confirm that only the 2024 suite is detected. Once the older version is removed, the 2024 applications should update normally without showing the unsupported version message.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

I loaded the 2024 version into a laptop that had been wiped and the operating system reinstalled

It seems that you are encountering an issue with your Office installation. Since you have ordered and installed Office for Home and Business 2024, you should not be receiving messages about the 2019 version being unsupported. This could happen if the system is still trying to update the older version instead of the new one.

To resolve this, ensure that you have fully uninstalled any previous versions of Office, including Office 2019, before installing Office 2024. If you haven't done this, you may want to uninstall Office 2019 first. You can use the Office Deployment Tool to help with this process. After uninstalling, try reinstalling Office for Home and Business 2024 and check for updates again.

If the problem persists, consider checking for updates directly within the Office apps or visiting the Microsoft support site for further assistance.
